Denver lead pipe replacement
Denver Water runs these programs for the lead pipe on your side of the property line.
Lead Reduction Program
The utility does the work
Pays: Replacement of a customer-owned lead line with copper at no direct charge, plus a free pitcher and filters certified to remove lead until six months after the replacement.
Who qualifies: Denver Water customers with a known or possible lead line, on Denver Water's yearly schedule.
Who does the work: Denver Water's crews do the work.
How to start: No application. Look up your address on Denver Water's lead map; request filters online.
Lead Service Line Replacement Reimbursement
You hire the plumber
Pays: A one-time $3,800 payment, about half of Denver Water's own cost, if you replace your line before your area is scheduled.
Who qualifies: Property owners with a full or partly lead line who get pre-approval and are not already scheduled this year or next.
Who does the work: You hire your own contractor.
How to start: Submit the pre-approval form before any work; Denver Water inspects and mails a check.
Hiring your own plumber? Get the approval the program asks for before work starts, and keep every estimate and invoice.
