The utility does the work
Pays: Free replacement of a private lead or galvanized steel line with copper, plus a free lead filter pitcher and cartridges. The page says a replacement can cost more than $8,000 privately.
Who qualifies: Only owners who get a letter from DEP, in targeted areas or on blocks with water or sewer main work.
Who does the work: DEP's contractor does the work.
