Pittsburgh lead pipe replacement
Pittsburgh Water (PWSA) runs this program for the lead pipe on your side of the property line.
Lead Service Line Replacement Reimbursement
You hire the plumber
Pays: Up to 100% of your cost back on an income scale (100%, 75%, or 50%), or a flat $1,000 for anyone who skips income verification.
Who qualifies: Homes of up to 4 units in PWSA's area with a private lead or galvanized line, replaced since January 2019. For a household of 4, under $99,000 gets 100%.
Who does the work: Use a plumber from PWSA's list or any licensed plumber, with the estimate approved first.
How to start: Call the PGH2O Cares Team at 412-255-2457 for income verification, then get your plumber's estimate approved before work starts.
Hiring your own plumber? Get the approval the program asks for before work starts, and keep every estimate and invoice.
